Improvement of micro-wrinkles and marks on the skin (Skin Resurfacing).

Indications

The Skin Resurfacing (Photorejuvenation) is indicated for the treatment of micro-wrinkles on the face, typically located around the eyes, the mouth, on the forehead and on the cheeks.

The Skin Resurfacing also improves damage to the skin due to excessive exposure to the sun (photoaging) and acne scarring.

Description

The Skin Resurfacing, which gives a smooth and compact look to the skin, consists in the application of laser energy to the skin of the face. This causes the removal of the superficial layers of the skin and the contraction and neoformation of collagen and elastic fibers. The instrument used is a UltraPulse CO2 laser (ENCORE), which is able to release very high energy in a very short time.

This laser procedure, however, cannot be used in the summer period since it is necessary to avoid exposure to the sun for at least 8 weeksafter the treatment.

Hospital stay

The Skin Resurfacing is usually carried out under local anesthetic in day hospital.

Recovery time

During the Skin Resurfacing a medication is applied to the skin being treated that must be removed after about 7 days.

After this there will be some reddening of the skin that will disappear after about 6-8 weeks. However, after about 10 days it is possible to use normal make-up.
