Removal of pre-existing scars

Indications

The scar removal procedure is indicated for those patients who wish to correct pre-existing scars that may have come about due to previous surgical operations, traumatic events or pathologies. In any case, it is necessary to evaluate if the margin of improvement actually justifies the operation itself.

Description

Depending on each individual case, the improvement of the appearance of a scar may be obtained either by using surgical methods or using laser treatments.

Hospital stay

The scar removal is carried out under local anesthetic as an outpatient. Only in rare circumstances when the scaring is widespreadmay it be necessary to carry out the treatment under general anesthetic and this as such necessitates an over-night stay in hospital.

Recovery time

The post-operative recovery period depends very much on the type of scar being treated, where it is located and the type of treatment being used.
